Mizuno Women's Wave Rider 19
The current iteration of this neutral shoe has some great improvements from version 18. The midsole is 30% lighter and more cushioned and durable thanks to a refinement of previously used foam The premium sock liner boasts a velvety smooth surface and a wonderful level of cushioning, with a bit of an arch contour. For those who require some additional support, I found the Superfeet Carbon insoles a great way to support my over-pronated feet. Stretchy laces and a cool looking mesh upper complete the package.
On a personal note, I found the pitch of the shoe a bit much. With a 12mm drop, the transition of the shoe gave too much "road feel" , the ride of the shoe was stiff and the forefoot was too stiff for my liking. Further, the shoe did not seem true to size. I can range from a 9.0 - 9.5, and had size 9 in this shoe, but could have gone done to 8.5 as I found the forefoot are seemed a bit baggy.
For those who run in the Wave Rider regularly, I think you will appreciate the improvements. It's a great road running shoe for those with a neutral mechanics.
Women's Wave Rider 19
If you loved last year’s Mizuno Wave Rider 18, then you will be sure to love the new, but subtle upgrades to the Wave Rider 19. The 19th generation of the Wave Rider features a slightly softer step in feel from the new and improved U4icX strobel lasting board. That means more comfort and cushioning underfoot. Also, there is more elasticity in the laces to help shoes to stay tied. Otherwise, the Wave Rider 19 has the same great bottom unit which provides that seemless transition that we all loved about the 18. This shoe kept everything right about the 18 and the adjustments made to the 19 only enhanced the already great shoe.
